The Famous Hot Weiner: A Family Tradition Since 1923
The Famous Hot Weiner is one of the oldest family-owned restaurants in York County. We’re proud of our long history and the many awards we’ve won for our great food and service to the community.
Our Story
Nicholas E. Mavros started The Famous Hot Weiner in 1923. It was Hanover’s first fast food restaurant. By 1928, we were at our current spot on York Street and Broadway. Since then, four generations of our family have run the business:
- 1957: Nicholas’ son E. Tim and his wife Georgia took over
- 1973: Grandson Nicholas T. Mavros and son-in-law Pete G. Keriazes opened a second location
- 1999: Great-grandsons George P. and Timothy P. Keriazes began running both restaurants
- 2011: We opened a third location in Spring Grove (now closed)
- 2014: We opened our West York location
Our Food
Our hot weiners are famous! They’ve been voted:
- #1 Hot Dog in York County by York Daily Record
- #1 Hot Dog in South Central Pennsylvania by Harrisburg Patriot News
We’ve even been on TV! But what makes us happiest is seeing our customers smile and come back again and again. Our secret chili sauce recipe has been in the family for generations. When you order a hot dog “with everything,” you get our famous chili sauce, mustard, and onions. But you can have it any way you like!
Our Promise
We’re proud of our history, but we’re always looking to the future. We want to keep growing with our community and serving new generations of customers. We’ll keep working hard to make great food and give you the best service.
We hope you’ll visit us soon and enjoy our “Famous” sandwiches. You’ll taste the years of experience and pride in every bite!
